Real Talk: I Sing While I Walk. Loudly. Off-Key. In Public.
Yep. This is my true confession. Every day, I head out for a three-mile walk, and if you happen to pass me, there’s a solid chance you’ll hear me belting out Taylor Swift like I’m auditioning for The Voice: Trail Edition.
Am I a good singer? Absolutely not. Do I care? Slightly. Do I keep doing it anyway? You bet your espresso martini I do.
You can blame my therapist. (Hi, if you’re reading this. Love you, mean it.)
So… Why Are We Talking About This on a Branding Blog?
Because here’s the thing: branding is about truth-telling. It’s not just the polished logo or a perfect Instagram grid. It’s not about looking like you have it all together. It’s about letting people see you, really see you.
I sing out loud, in public, because it makes me feel alive. It gets me breathing. It helps me connect to who I am. And isn’t that what good branding does too?
Your Brand = Your Story, Not Just Your Aesthetic
At Sweet Pea Ink Creative, I’m a designer, a strategist, a web wizard. That’s what you’ll see.
But what you might not see right away is the stuff behind the curtain:
- I’m a survivor of domestic violence.
- I’ve navigated single motherhood.
- I’ve rebuilt my life from narcissistic family dynamics.
- I live with an autoimmune disease.
These things don’t define me, but they shape me. They shape my process, my empathy, my design philosophy. They’re part of why Sweet Pea Ink Creative is built on truth, resilience, and creating brands that are not only beautiful, but honest.
Singing Became a Ritual. A Healing One.
Years ago, my therapist suggested walking to manage stress. Then came breathing exercises. Then… singing out loud.
At first I thought: LOL NO THANK YOU. But slowly, I tried it. A lyric would slip out here and there. And eventually? I let go. I sang the whole damn song. Loud. Badly. Gloriously.
It made me breathe. It made me laugh. It made strangers laugh too. It broke the perfection. And that, ironically, is what made it perfect.
What This Has to Do With Your Brand
Every time I sing out loud while walking, I’m reminded:
You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to be real.
And if you’re building a brand? Start there.
Your brand story is your power. Not the filtered version, not the Pinterest-perfect one, but the real one. When we tap into that? That’s when design becomes magnetic. That’s when your website speaks before you do. That’s when your people find you and say: “Wait… she’s the one I’ve been looking for.”
Real Brands Are Built on Real Stories
Sweet Pea Ink Creative exists because I decided to stop hiding. To take all the broken parts, all the late-night tears, all the start-overs, and turn them into something beautiful. That’s what I do for my clients too.
I want to create brands that tell the truth. That feel aligned. That breathe.
So yeah, I sing. I walk. I create. And if you’re ready to build a brand that sings with soul, I’m your girl.
